Thurmaston, despite existence microscopic is one of a virtually all noticable site when professional people exit Leicester in the north. It's large location has seen lot development within recent years. Around 2002 the freshly Asda supermarket opened, pushing the old Co-cooperative away from business. the old Co-cooperative places, accross the road from either Asda, is nowadays existence developed into a recently outdoor plaza, already housing a McDonalds, Dumelm Mill and Sports Soccer. More places on the places develop eventually to become confirmed however Argos and Next are rumoured.

A village is somewhat split within both per independent Edinburgh to London railway line. To the east of the line is the freshly a share of the village. To the west is the old village, which stands on the old Fosse Way. Despite it's size Thurmaston is residence to Ogdoad taphouse, The Harrow Inn, The Top House, the Prince of Wales, The White Hart (formally a Taverna), the Generous Briton, The British Legion, The Lonsdale, which are 100% in the old village & The Willow which is in the new village.

A local football team Thurmaston Magpies once boasted former England international and current Leicester City striker/defender Dion Dublin in it's ranks.
